(Silvis, IL) – Dan Kosth, president of Silvis-based Sports Media, Inc. (SMI), a full-service marketing agency specializing in live-sports and sports-related media, announced his company’s newly-formed alliance with The Savvy Group. The resulting creative boutique will be known as “Savvy Sports Media.”
“We’ve been telling clients and their agencies for years that the customers we put them in front of should be considered sports fans, first, and consumers second,” said Kosth. “Now that we’ve formed this partnership with The Savvy Group, we’ll be able to lend a hand in crafting creative messages that ring true with fans.”
Savvy’s experience in the field of sports includes the Washington Wild Things baseball team, The Meadows Race Track, Ladbroke Racing, RacelinBet.com and other racing, gaming and sports-related enterprises.
“It’s our view that the creative aspect of sports marketing is as much a niche specialization as the media piece, that’s why this alliance made so much sense,” explained Kimberly Loszewski, Principal of The Savvy Group. “This arrangement helps make Sports Media a one-stop shop for everything related to sports.”
The appeal of uniting with a proven creative team with big brand experience (The Savvy Group’s principals have worked on various national brands like Pizza Hut and The Hoover Company), was clear to both parties. “Sports is a category in and of itself,” said Ms. Loszewski. “For the creative to really be effective, you have to incorporate knowledge of the sport into the brand’s presentation and not lose the essence of what the brand means to its customers.”
Mr. Kosth picked up from there: “That’s where our unique blend of digital, interactive and promotional channels really compliments what The Savvy Group does. We’re able to deliver those unique messages in a very unique way – and at a great price.”
“Sports-related Out-of-home puts our creative team in a position of being able to really think way outside of the box,” continued Ms. Loszewski. “With all the options available to us, we see it all as an opportunity, not a restriction.”
Appealing to the Raving Fan
When asked to describe the difference between a “regular consumer” and the same person when they attend a sporting event, Ms. Loszewski said it’s easy. “People go from being their regular self into a raving fan. These are the season ticket holders. They’ve invested hundreds – sometimes thousands – of their own dollars into something they consider to be beyond plain entertainment. Sure, they’re looking for fun, but they have an obligation to their team and advertising or promotional messages that get in the way of that relationship just flat-out don’t work.
“Our creative has to be as entertaining as the game and as engaging as the team the fan supports,” she continued. “In the end, it’s all about having a great time. If your message and your brand are part of that good time, you’ve succeeded.”
